 Colonel Thomas Dorsey Chapter, NSDAR

Ellicott City, Maryland

About Our Chapter

The DAR has an active and flourishing chapter in Howard County that is named after Colonel Thomas Dorsey, who was a member of the Maryland Convention, 1775; appointed field officer in the Elk Ridge Battalion, February 1776; and commissioned as officer of this battalion in 1778.

Modern Daughters endeavor to uphold the mission of the NSDAR to encourage historic preservation, education, and patriotism in Howard County, Maryland. All of our members can trace a direct lineage to a Revolutionary War-era patriot, and this is a necessary requisite for membership in the NSDAR.

We welcome visitors who want to join our informative monthly chapter meetings, especially if you are seeking to become a member and are actively working on documenting your lineage from an American Revolution patriot.

We generally meet on the 2nd Saturday morning of the months of  September through May, excluding December. Please use the Contact Us page to verify the time and location with our current chapter regent. You can also find us on Facebook.
